Spice of Life Crochet Along Blanket

The Spice of Life blanket was a pattern that was originally released in six parts as of a Black Sheep Wools crochet along in Autumn 2015.

Although the official crochet along has now finished, the full pattern is still available so you can make a Spice of Life blanket of your own.

You can also make use of all the extra information given out during the CAL to help you make the blanket by referring to the original posts and extra information linked below.

I wrote this pattern for crafters who are already familiar with the basics of crochet and want to learn more stitch patterns and progress onto intermediate stitches.

To work this pattern you'll need to know:

• How to work from a written pattern •
• How to work back and forth in rows, keeping the same stitch count •
• How to make double (US- sc) and treble (US - dc) stitches •
• How to change colours and weave in ends •

However, in the end the CAL ended up attracting a loads of lovely beginners and even people who had never crocheted before and so we added more help and links to help those crafters make the blanket too, which you can find in the 'Beginners Guide' post.

Although I probably wouldn't recommend this as your very first project, there are plenty of those that choose to do just that!

Changing Width
The stitch count for the blanket needs to be a multiple of 12 plus 1
So for the starting chain you'll need a multiple of 12 plus 3

Changing Length
The blanket is made up of lots of separate sections, so you can choose to repeat as many of the sections as you wish until you have the blanket length you need

You'll need 180 yards in 13 colours for the main blanket
You'll also need an extra 180 yards in your chosen border colour
(Yardage requirements based on the original yarn pack: Rico Baby Classic DK)

NOTE: You may need more yardage if you are using a different yarn or if your tension does not match the pattern gauge
