Sitting by the Fire Blanket

In autumn 2024 I was started making a huge granny square blanket called 'Sitting by the Fire'.  Because that's the image I had in my head as I was thinking of the colours I wanted to use. Warm colours that said 'curl up and snuggle right here, all cozy by this toasty fire and maybe with a little hot chocolate to drink too'.  A literal and metaphorical warm hug of a blanket is what I was aiming for and this is the result.

Description
There is no pattern for this blanket, but with the tutorial links and help below you'll have everything you need to enjoy making your own very cozy Sitting by the Fire Blanket.
For more details on colours, planning and layout also see the linked posts.

Yarn
I used a mixture of 4ply yarns held double to equate to DK weight.
Mine was a stash busting blanket so I used some hanks from stash, some left overs and some minis.
For more details on the exact yarns I used, you can see my Ravelry project page

Substitutions
You could use any yarn you are happy with to make this blanket,
just make sure the yarn weights are the same throughout.

Hook | 4mm (or to suit your yarn)
Notions | yarn needle for sewing in ends

Size
Mine was 900 squares total (30 by 30)
2.15m (84”) square

Customise
You can make this any size square or rectangle you like by
varying the number of squares used or the weight of yarn.

Border
7 Granny Square Rounds, followed by 1 Double Crochet Round (US - singles)
