My First Socks

Taking your first steps…
Socks can seem like a daunting prospect to the novice knitter but this pattern is here to help in all those tricky places.  Starting with a basic cuff down sock using the most common and simple construction methods, you’ll soon be on your way.

Pattern Description
A full and clearly written pattern for a top down sock in a simple stitch design, a flap and gusset heel and rounded toe.

Skill Level
Written to be used as a first sock pattern but some basic knitting skills are required. Experience knitting in the round, particularly with magic loop would be useful.

Approximately 400 yards of a 4ply/fingering/sock weight yarn in a wool/nylon blend

Needle | 2.5mm (USA - 1.5) or size needed to match gauge
Circular needle: For magic loop I’d recommend a 80cm or 100cm (32” or 40”) needle
DPN’s: A set of 4 or 5 needles
Notions | Yarn needle,  1 x Stitch Marker,  1 x Progress Keeper

Size | Woman’s Medium - Directions for adjusting foot length included
After blocking:
20cm (8”) around ball of foot
20cm (8”) from cuff to base of heel
23cm (9”) from back of heel to toe

Gauge | 8 stitches and 12 rows in 2.5 cm (1”) across pattern repeat
